As soon as we got home from the first trip in Steely Van, we started stripping it out to redo and finish the conversion

After the trip to Colorado, we had a list of things that needed to be redone in the van. We also had a much longer list of things that needed to be done to fully finish the project. One large thing was to install the final flooring. This required removing everything in the van down to the white sub flooring. It really broke my heart to pull out all the things that I had raced to get put in for the Colorado trip, but I knew it had to be done. The dinette set up was all wrong proportionally. Only one of us could have our feet under the table at a time, and in reality probably only one foot. All of the cabinets needed to be primed and painted, and additional over head cabinets needed to be built, and doors put on all. Lots to do.

We started with the flooring, which went in quite well and we were happy with it. We also managed a few side trips in the empty van, just to try to recapture the fun we had on the Colorado trip. We were also able to assist my daughter move from one apartment to another. There was lots of room in the stripped out van.

Lots of work done, more to do…
